Introduction

DIY HVAC Tools (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a free mini split error code reference at diyhvactools.com, owned and operated by Zone Air. This policy explains what information is collected when you look up a code, read an article or follow a link from this site, and what we do with it.

The site has no accounts, sign-up forms or checkout, and you never have to tell us who you are to use it. Links to zone-air.com and Zone Air’s other sites are covered by their own privacy policies, including the Zone Air Privacy Policy.

Information we collect

What you type into the lookup

When you search for a code, the brand you picked and the code you typed are recorded in Google Analytics, along with whether we found a match. That tells us which codes people are looking for and which ones are missing from the database. Please don’t type personal information into the search box.

Information collected automatically

• IP address and the approximate location that comes from it
• Browser type, operating system and device information
• Pages you visit, the site that referred you, and the time and date of your visit
• How you use the site: how far you scroll, which links you click (including links to other websites), and phone number taps

If you call us

If you phone in a correction, we keep what you tell us, such as the brand, code, model number and what your manual says, so we can fix the page. We don’t keep your number for marketing.

How we use your information

• See which brands, codes, articles and links people find useful, so we can fill gaps and improve the pages
• Fix errors that visitors report
• Keep the site secure and spot abuse and automated traffic
• Comply with the law

How we share your information

• Service providers: companies that help us run the site, such as Cloudflare (hosting, security and cookie-free visit statistics) and Google (Google Analytics and Google Fonts). They may use your information only to provide those services.
• Zone Air: Zone Air owns and runs this site and can see its analytics.
• Legal requirements: when required by law, court order or government regulation.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, sale or transfer of the business.

We do not sell your personal information.

Analytics and cookies

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this site. It uses first-party cookies (such as _ga) and collects information like your IP address, browser and device details. Google processes it under the Google Privacy Policy; you can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

We’ve set Google Analytics up for measurement only. Google signals and ad personalization are turned off, and it isn’t linked to any advertising account. You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Cloudflare Web Analytics

Cloudflare, which hosts this site, also counts page views and measures page speed with its Web Analytics tool. It doesn’t use cookies or local storage and doesn’t track you across sites. It’s covered by the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

No advertising tags

This site doesn’t run advertising or retargeting tags, such as Google Ads, Meta, Microsoft or Reddit pixels. Zone Air’s own website does use advertising tags, so if you follow a link to zone-air.com, the Zone Air Privacy Policy applies there.

Fonts

Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers, which can see your IP address.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use the opt-out add-on above. The lookup and every page keep working without cookies.

Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. No method of sending or storing information over the internet is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it or to stop certain uses of it. Because the site doesn’t ask who you are, analytics data generally can’t be tied back to you by name. To make a request, call (720) 445-3182.

California residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to access, correct or delete it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We don’t sell personal information, and because this site runs no advertising tags, we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Children’s privacy

This site isn’t directed to anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll post the new version on this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top.
