What E440 means on a Samsung
The outdoor temperature is above the range in which the unit will heat. Normal, not a fault.
On this platform, E440 is a protection: the system stopped or throttled itself to prevent damage; many clear on their own once conditions return to normal.

- The outdoor air sensor reading high.
How to fix it yourself

- Switch to Cool or Fan mode, or wait for cooler weather.
- If it is not warm outside, suspect the outdoor air sensor (E221).
