What E0 means on a KeepRite

The indoor control board could not read its stored parameters (the EEPROM chip holds the unit's model settings). The unit will not run normally until the board can read valid data.

On this platform, E0 is a fault: something has failed or is disconnected and needs diagnosis.

Common causes

  • A power surge or brownout corrupted the stored parameters.
  • The EEPROM chip or the indoor main board has failed.
  • A replacement board was installed without being programmed for this model.

How to fix it yourself

Work through the checks below first; they resolve most cases. If they do not, the repair itself may need a technician.

  1. Reset the system: switch the breaker (or the outdoor disconnect) off, wait a full five minutes so the boards fully discharge, then switch it back on and restart from the remote.
  2. If the code comes straight back after a reset, the fault is real and not a glitch.
  3. If the code appeared right after a storm or a power blip, a second full reset sometimes clears it.
  4. If this board was recently replaced, it may need the model parameters written to it. That needs the manufacturer's service tool.

Switch off power at the breaker before opening either unit. Capacitors in the outdoor unit hold a charge for several minutes after power is cut.

This page applies to KeepRite DLCSRA / DLCSRB / DLCLRA outdoor with DLFSHA / DLFSFA indoor (2015 and later) and DLC4 / DLF4 (2013 to 2015) units on the DLC/DLF series, 2015 and later (Midea-built). KeepRite's own documentation lists E0 as "Indoor unit EEPROM parameter error", the same definition used across the Midea platform (classic codes) it is built on. If your unit shows a code with a different shape (for example a four-character code, or a plain number), it is from a different table; use the lookup with your exact code.

Where KeepRite shows this code

DLC/DLF series, 2015 and later (Midea-built): The code appears on the indoor unit's LED display in place of the set temperature. Some models also blink the indicator lamps in a pattern that matches the code. E codes are faults in the indoor unit or its communication link, F codes are faults on the outdoor side, and P codes are protections: the outdoor unit has stopped itself to prevent damage. EC is the refrigerant leak check.

Questions people ask

Can I reset a KeepRite E0 code myself?

Yes. Turn the system off at the breaker for five minutes, then restart it. If E0 comes back, the fault is real and needs the checks above.

Is it safe to keep running a KeepRite showing E0?

The unit will usually refuse to run, or run with reduced output, until the fault is cleared. Repeated resets do not fix anything and can mask a problem that is getting worse.
