What PC 0A means on a Bosch
The outdoor coil (condenser) temperature climbed too high in cooling mode and the unit reduced or stopped output to protect itself.
On this platform, PC 0A is a protection: the system stopped or throttled itself to prevent damage; many clear on their own once conditions return to normal.
Common causes
- A dirty or blocked outdoor coil.
- An outdoor fan running slow or stopped.
- The unit installed with too little clearance, recirculating its own hot air.
- Extreme outdoor temperatures.
How to fix it yourself
Work through the checks below first; they resolve most cases. If they do not, the repair itself may need a technician.
- Look at the outdoor unit: clear leaves, cottonwood fluff, snow or ice from the coil and make sure the fan can spin freely and nothing is stacked against the cabinet.
- Hose the outdoor coil from the inside out (power off) if it is visibly dirty.
- Check that the fan spins freely and runs when cooling.
- Make sure the clearance around the outdoor unit matches the manual (typically 12 in. or more on the coil side and 24 in. at the fan discharge).
Switch off power at the breaker before opening either unit. Capacitors in the outdoor unit hold a charge for several minutes after power is cut.
