Blueridge mini split error code EL 0C

Common causes

• A leaking flare joint (under- or over-torqued, or a damaged flare face).
• Service valves not fully opened.
• A quick-connect coupling not fully seated.
• A real leak in the coil or piping on an older unit.
• A false trigger from a badly dirty filter or coil, or a T2 sensor reading high.

How to fix it yourself

Work through the checks below first; they resolve most cases. If they do not, the repair itself may need a technician.

1. Reset the system: switch the breaker (or the outdoor disconnect) off, wait a full five minutes so the boards fully discharge, then switch it back on and restart from the remote.
2. Open both outdoor service valves fully (counterclockwise until they stop).
3. Pull the front panel and check the filters and the indoor coil. Dirty filters and a matted coil restrict airflow, and airflow problems trigger a surprising number of protection codes.
4. Soap-test every flare joint with the unit running; a stream of fine bubbles is a leak. Re-torque to spec rather than cranking harder.
5. Anything inside the refrigerant circuit (sensors are fine, but valves, compressors and leaks are not) needs EPA-certified refrigerant handling. That is a technician job.

Switch off power at the breaker before opening either unit. Capacitors in the outdoor unit hold a charge for several minutes after power is cut.

When to call a technician

If you cannot find or seal the leak, a technician must recover, repair, evacuate and recharge by weight.

Which Blueridge units show EL 0C

This page applies to Blueridge BMKH wall-mount, floor-ceiling and multi-zone (2016 and later) and BMY / BMX S-series single-zone (2023 and later) units on the BMY / BMX S-series (Midea table, four-character codes). Blueridge's own documentation lists EL 0C as "Refrigerant leak detected (low charge)", the same definition used across the Midea platform (four-character codes) it is built on. If your unit shows a code with a different shape (for example a four-character code, or a plain number), it is from a different table; use the lookup with your exact code.

Where Blueridge shows this code

BMY / BMX S-series (Midea table, four-character codes): The display shows a two-letter prefix and a two-character suffix, either together (EH60) or alternating (EH, then 60). Write both parts down; the suffix is what identifies the fault. EH and EL are indoor-side faults, EC is an outdoor-side fault, and PC is an outdoor protection: the unit stopped itself to prevent damage.
