Common causes

• Duplicate address DIP-switch settings.
• A board replaced without setting its address.

How to fix it yourself

Work through the checks below first; they resolve most cases. If they do not, the repair itself may need a technician.

1. An installer sets the address on each indoor board.

Switch off power at the breaker before opening either unit. Capacitors in the outdoor unit hold a charge for several minutes after power is cut.

Which Fujitsu units show E:26

This page applies to Fujitsu Halcyon, Halcyon XLTH and Airstage multi-zone units. Fujitsu's own documentation lists E:26 as "Indoor unit address setting error (multi-split)", the same definition used across the Fujitsu General it is built on. If your unit shows a code with a different shape (for example a four-character code, or a plain number), it is from a different table; use the lookup with your exact code.

Where Fujitsu shows this code

Units with a display show the code as E:xx (E:41). Wall units without one flash the Operation and Timer lamps: count the Operation flashes for the first digit and the Timer flashes for the second, so 4 Operation flashes then 1 Timer flash is E:41. A wired controller shows the code directly. 1x codes are communication faults, 2x are configuration and combination errors, 3x and 4x are indoor board, sensor and fan faults, 6x and 7x are outdoor board and sensor faults, 9x are compressor and fan faults, and Ax codes are temperature and pressure protections.
