What EC means on a ACiQ
The board compared the evaporator coil temperature with the room temperature while cooling and decided the coil is not getting cold enough, which is how it infers that refrigerant has leaked out. On a fresh DIY installation this almost always means a flare joint that did not seal, or a service valve that was never opened. The unit stops to protect the compressor.

How to fix it yourself

- Reset the system: switch the breaker (or the outdoor disconnect) off, wait a full five minutes so the boards fully discharge, then switch it back on and restart from the remote.
- Confirm both outdoor service valves (the small hex valves under the caps) are fully open, counterclockwise until they stop.
- Check the filters and coil first, because a starved coil can fake this code.
- Leak-check every flare joint with soapy water or a leak detector while the system runs. A stream of tiny bubbles is a leak. Re-torque a leaking flare to spec; do not just crank on it.
- On pre-charged quick-connect systems, verify the couplings are threaded on fully and the seal was pierced.
- Anything inside the refrigerant circuit (sensors are fine, but valves, compressors and leaks are not) needs EPA-certified refrigerant handling. That is a technician job.
Switch off power at the breaker before opening either unit. Capacitors in the outdoor unit hold a charge for several minutes after power is cut.
